  • 2 pcs Eggs Fresh eggs ensure the best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Sugar Adjust based on preference.
  • 2 cups Leavening Flour (Harina Leudante) Substitute with all-purpose flour mixed with baking powder if needed.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract or Orange Zest Use vanilla for a classic touch or orange for a refreshing twist.
  • 1 cup Milk Use whole milk for richness, or alternate milks like almond/oat.

For Topping

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar Can swap for cinnamon sugar.

How to Make Buñuelos

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well incorporated.
  • Stir in the leavening flour along with your choice of vanilla extract or orange zest.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, stirring until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter.
  • In a deep skillet, heat a generous amount of oil to around 350°F (180°C).
  • Using two spoons, drop dollops of the batter into the hot oil, frying each buñuelo until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.

Notes

Optional: Serve with a side of dulce de leche for dipping.
