Ingredients
  

For the Apples

  • 4 Granny Smith apples Tartness balances with candy coating.
  • 4 Wooden sticks For easy dipping and serving.

For the Candy Coating

  • 2 cups Granulated sugar Primary sweetener.
  • 1 cup Light corn syrup Prevents sugar from crystallizing.
  • 1 cup Water Dissolves the sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon Red food coloring Optional for vibrant color.

For Preparation

  • 1 can Cooking spray Prevents sticking.
  • 1 Candy thermometer Ensures correct syrup temperature.

Preparation

  • Prepare the baking sheet by lining with parchment paper and spraying with cooking spray.
  • Wash and dry the Granny Smith apples thoroughly. Remove stems and insert wooden sticks into each apple.

Candy Coating

  • In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water, and red food coloring if desired. Heat without stirring until it reaches 285°F.

Dipping the Apples

  • Carefully dip each apple in the syrup, ensuring a full coat while allowing excess to drip off.

Cooling

  • Place the coated apples on the prepared baking sheet and allow to cool for approximately 15 minutes until the coating hardens.
