Instructions

How to Make Bubble Tea

  • In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of hot water. Stir until dissolved, microwaving for 1-2 minutes if necessary for an easier mix.
  • Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then add the instant black tapioca pearls. Cook according to the package instructions, usually around 5-7 minutes, then drain and rinse them under cool water before marinating in the syrup.
  • Place 6 tea bags or 4 tablespoons of loose-leaf black tea in a heatproof container. Pour in 1 cup of boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags or strain out the leaves.
  • In your serving glasses, add 2-3 tablespoons of the marinated tapioca pearls along with a bit of syrup. Pour in 1/2 cup of brewed tea and top off with 1 cup of plant-based milk, adjusting the ratios to your preference.
  • Enjoy your bubble tea hot, at room temperature, or chilled with ice for that refreshing touch.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa powder for an extra flavor twist. Always let your cooked tapioca pearls soak in syrup for a few minutes before serving for maximum sweetness.
