  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease an 8-inch circular pan with cooking spray. Cut out parchment paper to fit in the pan and trace your design with an edible marker.
  • Separate the egg yolks and egg whites. Place the yolks in a large bowl and the whites in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  • Sift in the flour and cornstarch into the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined.
  • Whip the egg whites in a stand mixer until frothy, then gradually add the vinegar and sugar.
  • Continue whipping the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold the egg whites gently into the egg yolk batter until just combined.
  • Dye a few teaspoons of the batter with food gel for your design, and transfer colored batter into piping bags.
  • Pipe black outlines around your traced designs and fill in with vibrant color.
  • Chill the decorated cake in the fridge for 5-8 minutes, then pipe the uncolored batter on top and bake for 8-9 minutes.
  • Flip the cake out of the pan and gently peel off the parchment paper. Allow all layers to cool completely.
  • Whisk the heavy cream, confectioners sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  • Assemble the cake by placing a layer of undesigned cake, piping a layer of whipped cream, and then topping it with the beautifully designed layer.
  • Add any desired filling or decorations, and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
