Instructions

How to Make 4th of July Cake Pops

  • Prepare the Cake: Follow the instructions on your cake mix box, mixing in 3 eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Bake until golden brown, then let it cool completely. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl and blend in the cream cheese frosting until well combined.
  • Shape the Pops: Scoop at least 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place each ball on a cookie sheet until all the mixture is used up, creating about 22 pops.
  • Chill for Firmness: Pop the cake balls into the freezer for about 15 minutes to firm up for easier dipping.
  • Melt the Coating: Melt the white melting wafers according to package instructions. Stir in the coconut oil or shortening to achieve a smooth, glossy consistency.
  • Insert the Sticks: Remove the chilled cake balls from the freezer. Carefully push a lollipop stick into the center of each ball, ensuring it goes in deep enough to hold.
  • Dip in Chocolate: Quickly dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Sprinkle patriotic sprinkles over the wet chocolate for a festive touch.
  • Dry the Pops: Insert the cake pop sticks into a designated drying station, like a block of foam or a cup filled with rice. Let the pops sit until the coating hardens completely before serving.

Notes

Enjoy your cake pops fresh for up to 2 days at room temperature, 1 week in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months. Best enjoyed chilled or at room temperature.
