Ingredients
  

For the Limoncello Base

  • 10 lemons organic lemons Preferably organic for the best flavor extraction.
  • 1 750 ml vodka or grain alcohol A higher proof yields a stronger infusion.

For the Simple Syrup

  • 3 cups water Use filtered water for a clean taste.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar Essential for balancing the tartness.

  • Peel the lemons carefully, avoiding the white pith. Combine the zest with the vodka or grain alcohol in an airtight container and let it steep for 2-4 weeks.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 3 cups of water with 1.5 cups of granulated sugar. Heat over medium until it simmers, stirring until sugar dissolves, then cool.
  • After steeping, strain out the lemon peels from the alcohol mixture. Mix with the cooled simple syrup and transfer to clean bottles.

Notes

Serve chilled with a lemon twist for an added touch. Use organic, unwaxed lemons for the best flavor and avoid the white pith while peeling to prevent bitterness.
