Ingredients

For the Base

  • ¾ cup warm water Use filtered water for the best results.
  • teaspoons sugar Honey can be used as a natural alternative.
  • 1 package (¼-ounce) active dry yeast Ensure it's fresh for optimal results.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Substitute with half white whole wheat flour for a heartier texture.
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt Avoid table salt for a purer taste.
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil Adds richness and aids in dough handling.

Instructions

How to Make Homemade Pizza Dough

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • In a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the flour and sea salt. Gradually pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil. Mix for 5-6 minutes until you get a cohesive dough ball.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it into a ball. Place it into an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently stretch and shape it to fit a 14-inch pizza pan.
  • Top your shaped dough with sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. Bake in a preheated oven at 500°F for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, allow the dough to refrigerate overnight after the first rise. Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust.
