How to Make Mini Heart Cakes

  • Prepare a batch of your chosen cake recipe, like Vanilla Almond, and bake it in a ¼ sheet pan at 350°F for about 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • After the cake has cooled to room temperature, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
  • Using a 2" heart-shaped cutter, carefully cut out 12 hearts from the frozen cake. Slice each heart through the center to create two layers for each cake.
  • Spread about 1 tablespoon of strawberry compote on the bottom layer of each heart to add a burst of fruity sweetness.
  • Place the upper heart layer on top and pipe vanilla buttercream on top for a decorative touch.
  • Allow the finished cakes to chill in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours before serving at room temperature.

Notes

Optional garnishes include fresh berries or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for added elegance.
