Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Can swap with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 packet Rapid Yeast Use active dry yeast if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Coconut sugar can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk Almond or oat milk for dairy-free.
  • 3 tablespoons Butter Coconut oil for dairy-free option.
  • 1 large Egg Use flaxseed meal mixed with water for vegan.

For the Filling

  • 3/4 cup Strawberry Preserves Substitute with raspberry or blueberry preserves.

For the Icing

  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese Must be softened.
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar Sift for smoother finish.
  • 2 tablespoons Milk Adjust for desired consistency.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 pinch Salt

How to Make Strawberry Buns

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 packet of rapid yeast, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  • In a microwave-safe container, warm 1 cup of milk and 3 tablespoons of butter until the butter melts. Stir into the flour mixture along with 1 beaten egg.
  • Sprinkle in the remaining flour, about 1 cup at a time, until the mixture forms a soft dough.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for approximately 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  • Roll the dough into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick. Spread around 3/4 cup of strawberry preserves evenly, then roll up tightly and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  • Arrange the sliced rolls in a greased baking pan, cover again, and let them rise until puffy, about 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant.
  • While rolls cool, beat together 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Drizzle over cooled rolls.

Notes

For extra flavor, add crushed nuts or fresh strawberries on top of the icing.
