How to Make Banana Nut Bread

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spread the walnuts on a baking sheet. Toast them for about 5-7 minutes until fragrant, then set aside to cool.
  • Grease a metal loaf pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal later.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt until well combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, dark brown sugar, and mashed bananas together until smooth. Stir in the melted and cooled butter and vanilla extract.
  • Gently fold the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay!
  • Fold in the toasted walnuts, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the batter for delightful crunch.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. For an extra touch, sprinkle some raw walnuts on top for added texture.
  • Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the banana nut bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Gently lift it out using the parchment overhang and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Enjoy each slice warm with a spread of butter or cream cheese for added decadence.
