Ingredients
  

For the Tea Base

  • 3 bags Black tea family-sized bags or 12 individual bags suggested
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar

For Serving

  • Lemon slices A zesty addition.

Preparation

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Remove from heat once boiling.
  • Dunk the tea bags in the hot water to hydrate them. Steep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove and discard the tea bags, then add 1 cup of sugar to the warm tea and stir until dissolved.
  • Pour the tea into a 1-gallon pitcher.
  • Add 3 quarts of cold water to the tea base and stir to combine.
  • Refrigerate the tea for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Serve the chilled sweet tea in glasses filled with ice. Optionally, add a sprig of mint or a lemon slice.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality black tea and ensure sugar is fully dissolved. Customize flavors with herbs or fruits, and store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
