How to Make Marbled Valentine Sugar Cookies

  • In a stand mixer, beat softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, salt, and baking powder, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the mixture, combining it slowly until it forms a soft dough.
  • Divide the dough in half. Add a few drops of gel food coloring to one half, mixing until vibrant.
  • Pinch off small balls from each colored dough, kneading them together gently to create swirls.
  • Shape the marbled dough into a disc, wrap in plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut out shapes.
  • Freeze the cut cookies on a baking sheet for 15 minutes before baking.
  • Bake for about 12 minutes until edges are slightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
