Cooking Instructions

  • Begin by dicing the onion into 1/2-inch pieces.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the lean ground beef for 5-7 minutes until it’s fully cooked.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the diced onions for 3-4 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent.
  • Add the chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper to the sautéed onions. Stir for 1 minute.
  • Transfer the beef and onion mixture into a slow cooker. Then, add the kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, beef broth, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar. Stir well.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours.
  • Skim off any excess fat from the top, adjust seasoning, and ladle the chili into bowls. Top with your favorite toppings.
