  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, adding diced onions, for about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat and season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Mix in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream; stir until well combined.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish and spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.
  • Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  • Arrange a single layer of tater tots on top, packing them closely together.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  • Add an additional sprinkle of cheese on top and return to the oven for an extra 5 minutes until melted and bubbly.

Notes

For an optional twist, top with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
